The GPS, also known as Global Positioning System, is a space-based global navigation satellite system that provides reliable location and time information in all weather and at all times and anywhere on or near the Earth when and where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. It is maintained by the United States government and is freely accessible by anyone with a GPS receiver.

In other words (and to make it easier to understand), it is the cost-effective way to ensure you never get lost again. Real-time satellite signals track your position and direct you, metre by metre, to your destination.

Anyway, GPS was created and realized by the U.S. Department of Defense and was originally run with twenty-four satellites. It was established in the year 1973 to overcome the limitations of previous navigation systems.

So if you have a habit of getting lost, then i suggest you to buy your own GPS unit. Oh, on selecting one, you must first read GPS reviews (on the net, etc.) before purchasing, so that you may be able to decide what features are most important for your needs.
